Fox Newsletter

Welcome [FIRST NAME]

Life is pretty manic at Fox HQ at the moment. The product development team are working like men possessed to launch a load of new products covering the carp, match and sea scenes. I’m hoping to be able to reveal more in next month’s newsletter.

We also have two new Predator DVDs and our first-ever Match DVD in the making – all of which will be on-sale in November, available from www.foxint.com

If that wasn’t enough, we are also producing two new books to add to the acclaimed ‘Fox Guide to…, range. The Fox Guide to Sea Angling (Shore edition) is being written by Alan Yates and will be on-sale before Christmas. The Fox Guide to Big Carp fishing is currently being written by Colin Davidson, and is expected to be on-sale early 2008. Both look amazing and will certainly help you catch more fish.

The new-look Fox website is looking pretty damn great too. It needs a few tweaks here and there, but we hope to go live in November. I’ll keep you posted.

Until next month, enjoy the newsletter.

Fox Sea Pulley Bead Sea Fishing, by Alan Yates
With autumn now upon us, we have a cross-over of the big summer fish migrating away and the bigger winter fish like cod arriving (hopefully)! Top venues are usually rough ground, because the fish are safer from commercial nets. My top rig is the Pulley Pannell, with a 3/O hook baited with a large cocktail of lugworm, squid or crab. Checkout the Fox Sea Pulley Beads, which completely solve the problem of a swivel damaging or breaking your line when power casting!
Fox Match Bump Bar Match Fishing, by Mark Pollard
When the weather gets colder, carp in particular need less food to survive. It’s for this reason that they often sit in what they deem ‘safe’ water past the distance that anglers usually fish in summer conditions. My top tip is to fish the pole at 14.5 or 16 metres, away from any bankside disturbance. If you find it hard holding a pole steady at this length try using the Fox Match Bump Bar. It’s invaluable for keeping a pole steady in windy conditions, and helps distribute the weight of your pole which puts far less strain on your back. You’ll find holding long lengths of pole far easier using this superb piece of kit!
Fox Arma Point LSC Carp Fishing, by Chris Rose
Now the colder weather has arrived, it’s vital you scale down your end tackle in an attempt to fool wary carp. I’ll now be using a 15lb Green Cortex hooklength and a size 10 Arma Point LSC hook. I also reduce the size of my boilie hookbait too, by using a 14mm boilie but trimming off the sides to make it appear smaller.
Fox Predator Twin Tail Predator Fishing, by Dave Kelbrick
As water temperatures start to drop the metabolism of pike will slow down and not only do they tend to move to deeper water but pike become much less active and less willing to chase a speedily retrieved lure. It therefore makes sense to choose deeper working lures with a less erratic action at this time of year such as the Super Twintail as the pike will find them easier to locate and take. Once cast out and left to sink to the required fishing depth all that is required to get the best from lures such as this is a steady slow retrieve and the pike will do the rest. So remember, as a rule the colder it gets go for slow retrieve type lures and you won’t go far wrong.

I’m an all-round angler. Basically, I dabble with a bit of big carp fishing but also love the rush of fishing a match on a commercial carp lake. I decided, on the strength of reviews in the UK angling press, to buy two Fox Stratos FS 10000 reels (£99.99 each) to cater for my big carp fishing. I was a little dubious about buying Fox reels, mainly because the company wasn’t established in the reel market.

I needn’t have worried because these reels are the best carp reels I have ever used. My casting has improved massively. I can now reach the features or gravel bars that I was previously forced to dream about. I am sure this is because of the brilliant line lay and the machined spool – line just seems to glide off effortlessly. The clutch is also superb, allowing tiny adjustments to ensure I am always in total control of the fish, without any worry of it locking up causing a hook pull.

I prefer using double-handles – I just feel it makes the reel feel more balanced – but Fox supply both single and double reel handles to give me the option of using either. It’s an extra feature you just don’t get with most other reels.

Fox Startos FS10000

These reels are so good that I then went and brought a FS 7000E, this time to cater for my Method fishing in matches.

Considering this reels sell for just under £50, I can’t fault it. It’s the perfect size for Method fishing, it’s well-built yet not too heavy, and benefits from the kind of features you’d expect from a reel costing twice the price. My best piece of advice is to go and buy a Stratos reel.

New Fox Predator DVD

Winter predator fishing is one of the most exciting areas of our sport, so fine-tune your pike fishing with the help of two new Fox DVDs.

The Fox Guide to Lure Fishing is packed full of hints and tips that will help all predator anglers, regardless of their experience, beat their personal best. It stars two of the sport’s biggest and best – Mick Brown and Dave Kelbrick – who explain the importance of selecting the right lure for the venue and conditions, and offer an insight into soft plastics and fish welfare.

The Fox Guide to Gravel Pit Piking is a two-disc set that shows Mick Brown catch pike to over 20lb, whilst divulging the very tactics that have made him a household name in the predator world. He goes into detail on the best rigs for both live and deadbaits and uses state-of-the-art graphics that make the construction of these rigs so much simpler.

Both DVDs will sell for £9.99 plus £1.50 P&P to UK addresses. You can buy on-line at www.foxint.com

Available from 14th November 2007.
